Year 8 Subjects Year 9 and 10 Subjects Year 11 and 12 Subjects

Welcome to the world of Business and IT! Business and IT are part of our everyday lives – budgeting income for expenses, purchasing goods and services to meet needs and wants, mobile phones, computers, computer games . . . The list is endless of how Business and IT impact our daily lives. The Business and IT Faculty offers students the opportunity to develop and further extend their knowledge and understanding, skills, and experiences of Business and IT.

YEAR 8 SUBJECTS

Year 8 Technology

The purpose of Yr 8 Technology is to integrate IT throughout each student's programme. This is done by informing students of the school's network, managing individual home drives, and developing and practising the basic skills of the Microsoft suite. Students use these skills across their subjects for assignment presentation, and continue to use these knowledge and skills throughout their schooling years.

YEAR 9 AND 10 SUBJECTS

Year 9 & 10 Business in Action

Business in Action incorporates exposure to the major areas of business, economics, and law. Topics include accounting, business enterprise, stock market, and operating a business venture. This course offers a foundation for further study of senior subjects Accounting, Economics, and also towards BCT.

Year 9 & 10 Business Essentials

The Certificate I in Business , earning 2 points towards the QCE, is offered in Year 10 of this course. Essential elements and skills that can be applied to the classroom, industry, and home are studied in Business Essentials. Topics include development of keyboard skills + wordprocessing + Microsoft suite to a very high standard, budgeting and money management, using a variety of media to problem-solve + creative work production. This course offers a foundation for further study of senior subject BCT, and also towards Accounting and Economics.

Year 9 & 10 Technology in Action

The Certificate I in Technology , earning 2 points towards the QCE, is offered in Year 10 of this course. TIA offers a broad introduction of IT topics, including software application (eg, Flash), systems + hardware + software, extension of Microsoft suite, and programming (eg, Visual Basic). This course offers a foundation for further study of senior subjects IPT, ITS, and ICT.

YEAR 11 AND 12 SUBJECTS

Year 11 & 12 Accounting - Q.S.A, O.P

Accounting is essential for students who aim to own a small business or pursue a career in the Business World or Government. Practical and electronic applications are learned in conjunction with the theory of this subject. Numeracy skills, communication skills, and logical reasoning processes are developed through this course.

Year 11 & 12 Economics- Q.S.A, O.P

Economics aims to develop student knowledge of the concepts and methods of the Australian economy and the global economics. The two-year course is a study of how to use scarce resources in the best possible way.

Year 11 & 12 Business Communications and Technologies- Q.S.A, O.P

Business and Communications Technologies aims to equip students with the skills of effective communication and practical applications within a business environment. Students study a broad variety of subjects within the contexts of Travel, Retail, Events Management, and Real Estate industries. By achieving the embedded Certificate II in Business, students have the foundations for both employment and further study.

Year 11 & 12 Information Technology Systems- Q.S.A, O.P

Information Technology Systems aims to prepare students to enter the IT Industry with practical skills and knowledge of rapidly changing and emerging technologies. By achieving the embedded Certificate II in Information Technology, students have the foundations for both employment and further study.

Year 11 & 12 Information Processing & Technology- Q.S.A, O.P

Information Processing and Technology is studied via virtual schooling, where students conference-call with their teacher weekly, and regularly communicate on-line. As an academic subject, students must commit to their study, be self-motivated and self-directed learners, and possess a high level of IT skills. IPT is particularly suited for careers in the IT industry.

Year 11 & 12 Information & Communication Technology- Q.S.A, S.A.S

Information & Communication Technology assists students to develop knowledge, skills, and vocational competencies pertaining to the IT Industry and IT aspects of industries. By achieving the Certificate I in Media and Certificate II in Multimedia, students have the foundations for both employment and further study.
