			<title>NEW SCHOOL UNIFORM OUTLINE</title>
			<link>http://maroochyshs.eq.edu.au/wcmss/index.php/latest/new-school-uniform-outline.html</link>
			<description>The new school uniform will be available from 3 December 2009 for the beginning of the 2010 school year. There will be a 24 month transition period to phase in this new uniform. The Parents&amp;rsquo; and Citizens&amp;rsquo; Association of Maroochydore State High School has determined that there is a dress code and uniform policy for students of Maroochydore State High School and as such, our school strictly adheres to the uniform policy.

With reference to Sections 360 &amp;ndash; 363 of the Education (General Provisions) Act 2006, the Parents&amp;rsquo; and Citizens&amp;rsquo; Association of Maroochydore State High School has resolved that it supports the Principal in the development of a student dress code policy that all students attending Maroochydore State High School must comply with. The Parents&amp;rsquo; and Citizens&amp;rsquo; Association believes that a school dress code policy at Maroochydore State High school promotes the objectives of the Education (General Provisions) Act 2006, and in particular that it:
&amp;middot;       Promotes a safe environment for learning by enabling ready identification of students and non-students of the school;
&amp;middot;       Promotes an effective teaching and learning environment by eliminating the distraction of competition in dress and fashion at the school;
&amp;middot;       Promotes a supportive environment at the school by fostering a sense of belonging;
&amp;middot; Encourages tidiness, loyalty, teamwork and pride in the school and students&amp;rsquo; own appearances.
&amp;middot; Fosters mutual respect among individuals at the school by minimising visible evidence of economic, class or social differences.
&amp;middot; Helps to ensure that students are wearing clothing that is practical and safe in all learning situations, especially Science, Home Economics and Manual Arts.

The determination about school student dress code policy also includes standards regarding shoes, jewellery, hairstyles and make up. For any occasion, extremes in dress and appearance that will cause undue comment or distraction are not allowed.

Students attending Maroochydore State High School are required to wear the correct school uniform without alterations or additions while at school, including excursions and sport and while going to and from school.

In 2010 a new school uniform will be introduced and there will be a two year transition period from the old uniform to the new uniform. All Year 8 students and students new to Maroochydore State High School in 2010 are expected to purchase the new uniform. Existing students have until the end of 2011 to change to the new uniform. The new and old uniforms must not be mixed and matched. The wearing of plain black leather shoes/joggers will be required from the beginning of 2010.
The school strictly adheres to the uniform policy. The following outlines how the uniform is to be worn across different year levels and in different situations.
