In the junior school ITD has three stands of study:Graphics, Industrial Technology and Design – wood or metal. Our Graphics program will introduce students to basic drafting and CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) with an emphasis on design.Students who study Graphics will be exposed to many disciplines in a range of tertiary study including architecture, surveying, engineering, industrial design, CAD and drafting. Our junior curriculum is design to make the transition into senior graphics as easy as possible.
ITD wood or metal has an emphasis on the development of basic manufacturing skills in a workshop environment together with related technology.Students will use a DMA (design make appraise) approach to problem solving in most section of the course.
Our senior course offers two QSA subjects Graphics and Technology Studies together with two Certificate 1 courses Furnishing and Engineering Manufacturing. The nature of Technology Studies requires students to solve problems using a design methodology, a practical realisation of a solution and evaluation of the solution.Students are encouraged to be active participants in inventions and innovation over a wide range of intellectual challenges in both Technology Studies and Graphics.Senior Graphics is a continuation of junior years but at a higher level and with a greater emphasis on CAD and design.
Both certificate courses are competency based over two yeas and will qualify students for an AQTF Level 1 Certificate which may give advanced standing towards a traineeship/apprenticeship/credit on entry to higher level courses at TAFE or university. These certificates are recognised Australia wide as being part of the Australian Quality Training Framework.
