What is a School Based Traineeship \ Apprenticeship?
School Based Traineeships or Apprenticeships are an opportunity to "EARN WHILE YOU LEARN" . You will have the opportunity to receive a Queensland Certificate of Education, have at lease a Certificate II in a chosen field and have been paid for the time spent working.
How does a School Based Traineeship / Apprenticeship work?
It involves a mix of studing at school , training and working. All of these things will become part of your school timetable. A SAT ( School based Apprentice or Trainee) must impact your timetable; this means some of your work or training must take place during school hours.
As a SAT you will work at least 48 days ( or equal amount of hours) over a 12month period. You will be PAID for the time spent working. As a SAT you WILL NOT be paid for the time undertaking training delivered by the training provider.
What is the difference between a school - based apprntice and a school -based trainee?
A school - based apprentice is trained in a skilled trade, and upon successful completion, will become a qualified tradesperson. Students may convert to a full - time or part -time apprenticeship when they finish school to allow them to complete the qualification.
A trainee is someone who is being trained in a vocational area. These vocational areas include, but are not limited to, office administration, information technology and hospitality.
Some students will complete their traineeships while they are at school. Others may need to convert to a full - time or part - time traineeship when they finish school to allow them to complete the qualification. Upon completion of a traineeship, students will receive a minimum of a Certificate II in their chosen vocational area.
